O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
OUR PURPOSE:
To Glorify God. (Romans 15:6)
OUR MISSION:
To be witnesses for Christ: to go and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:19-20)
OUR VISION:
To do good works in evangelizing the unsaved, in equipping our members in fellowshipping with one another, in worshipping the one true God, and ministering to the needs of others. (Matthew 5:16; Romans 10:14; Ephesians 4:12; I John 1:3; Matthew 4:10; Mark 10:45)
OUR COMMITMENT:
To love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and our neighbor as ourself. (Matthew 22:37, 39)
OUR DESIRE:
That all people may know that we are His disciples. (John 13:35)
Founded AD 33 and established in Athens, WV October 29, 1887 as Concord Church and renamed Athens Baptist Church in 1889.
The purpose of this church is to glorify God by preaching and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ; to provide regular opportunities for worship, learning, ministry, and fellowship among all people in our community; and to sustain the ordinances , doctrines, and ethics set forth in the New Testament for the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired word of God. It is Truth without error in its original languages, will stand for all eternity, and is the basis for any statement of faith.
We band ourselves together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ personally committed to share the good news of salvation to lost mankind.
